Today’s news needs no introduction: head coach Paul Johnson has retired after more than a decade of coaching football at Tech. Though Johnson will still coach the bowl game, his tenure will end with a minimum of seven wins as Todd Stansbury begins his search for the next head coach to guide Georgia Tech’s storied program.
Of course, the journey to find a new head coach can be an arduous one as the AJC’s Ken Sugiura suggests. There are plenty of strong options out there who would fill Johnson’s shoes in excellent fashion, but the sheer number of landmines — many of which are quite well-hidden — could derail the efforts in a second.
