Sunday afternoon, Matt Kuchar secured his 8th career PGA tour victory at the Mayakoba Classic, held in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. At Tech, Kuchar was a two-time first-team All-American for the golf team. In 1998, he won the Haskins Award, given to the nation’s top collegiate golfer. Despite consistently finding himself at the top of leaderboards, Kuchar had gone nearly four and a half years since his last PGA tour victory. When his three-foot par putt rattled in on the 18th hole Sunday, Kuchar’s face was filled with both joy and relief. After the win, he said “being four years removed since my last victory I realize how difficult it is to win on the PGA TOUR.
