Paul Johnson announced he is stepping down as Georgia Tech’s head football coach on Wednesday, and a source close to Georgia Tech has indicated to FTRS that Tech has already zeroed in on Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott to be his replacement.
Elliott, 39, has been at Clemson since 2011 and has served as its co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach since 2015. He won the Broyles Award in 2017, awarded annually to college football’s top assistant coach. Clemson is averaging 45.5 points per game this season, third-best in FBS.
