Quarterback Matthew Jordan a possibility for goal-line situations

With Georgia Tech backup quarterback Tim Byerly still out after suffering a knee injury in practice last week, his replacement could step into his role as a short-yardage specialist.

Coach Paul Johnson said Wednesday that Matthew Jordan could “possibly” be sent into the game in goal-line situations in place of starter Justin Thomas. In 2014, his first season as the No. 2 quarterback, Byerly sometimes came into the game when the Yellow Jackets neared the goal line, using his size and strength to bull his way into the end zone. Last season, six of his seven touchdown runs covered two yards or fewer.
