Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson gave his good wishes to former South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, who stepped down from his job Tuesday.
“Certainly, he’s an icon and he’s been a guy that’s been a real asset to college football with his personality and his coaching and all the things he’s accomplished,” Johnson said Tuesday after practice. “He’ll be missed.”

It is easily forgotten that Spurrier actually coached at Tech for one season, in 1979, his second coaching job.
