Marcus Georges-Hunt, Charles Mitchell and Adam Smith combined to score 56 points and Mitchell also had 18 rebounds to lead Georgia Tech past Arkansas 83-73 in the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon.
In the second semifinal, 11th-ranked Villanova (4-0) met Stanford (2-2). The winner of that game plays Tech at 3 p.m. Friday; the losers play for third place at 12:30 p.m. Friday. Tech is 4-1 against Arkansas, and had not played the Razorbacks since the 1984 Rainbow Classic, a 72-52 Yellow Jackets win.
