Former Georgia Tech safety Isaiah Johnson has agreed to an undrafted free-agent deal with the Detroit Lions, according to his agent Lance Courtney, joining a certain other former Yellow Jacket of note.
Johnson, a three-year starter for the Jackets at safety, went unclaimed in the seven-round NFL draft but was picked up by the Lions. He’ll join Tech great Calvin Johnson, who not only shares a college alma mater with Isaiah Johnson (no relation) but also attended the same high school. Both are graduates of Sandy Creek High in Tyrone.
Johnson will be aided by the fact that the Lions did not draft a safety.
