Georgia Tech's 2nd-leading WR quits team with 3 games to go

ATLANTA (AP) Receiver Micheal Summers has quit the Georgia Tech football team after starting much of the past three seasons.

Coach Paul Johnson announced Summers' departure during his Monday news conference.

The coach was caught off guard by Summers' decision. Asked if the player gave him a reason, Johnson would only say, ''He didn't want to play anymore.''

Summers is a fourth-year junior who started 25 of the 34 games he played for the Yellow Jackets. He started seven games this season, missing a couple of contests because of a clavicle injury.
