In her first season as the Georgia Tech Women’s basketball coach, Nell Fortner has been named as a Naismith Coach of the Year semifinalist.
Under Fortner, Georgia Tech went 10-8 in ACC play, and 19-10 overall. Just a year ago, the Yellow Jackets were in a tricky situation with the releasing of former head coach MaChelle Joseph. The atmosphere has compeltely changed since then and the Yellow Jackets are now on track to see the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013.
Fortner is 325-199 overall as a head coach where she’s had former stints at Auburn, Purdue, the national Olympic USA Women’s Basketball Team, and at the Indiana Fever, a WNBA team.
