The Georgia Tech Athletic Association this morning named Todd Stansbury as Tech’s new athletic director. Stansbury replaces Mike Bobinski, who left The Flats for Purdue in August.
Stansbury comes to Tech most recently from Oregon State, though his best work as an AD came at UCF from 2012-2015. Under Stansbury, UCF grew its donor base by almost 50% and built a new basketball arena and on-campus football stadium, in addition to pulling off the biggest BCS bowl upset ever by defeating Baylor in the 2014 Fiesta Bowl.
Stansbury is a Georgia Tech alumnus and played linebacker for the Yellow Jackets from 1981-84 under Bill Curry.
