Quarterback Matthew Jordan, who is considered the lead candidate to replace Justin Thomas in 2017, suffered a foot injury during practice.
Jordan apparently suffered the injury during a non-contact intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday and is expected to miss the rest of Georgia Tech‘s spring camp, according to the school.
In a statement released by Georgia Tech, head coach Paul Johnson seemed confident that Jordan would be back to compete in the summer.
“It’s unfortunate that Matthew will miss the rest of the spring but we’re looking forward to getting him back and competing for the starting position as soon as possible”
A redshirt junior, Jordan spend a couple of seasons as a clear backup to starter Justin Thomas and saw limited action, especially in short-yardage situations due to his strength and up-the-middle running ability.
