Entering this time last year, Georgia Tech football’s KirVonte Benson wasn’t expecting to be the Jackets starting b-back. At the time, Dedrick Mills was entering the season as the starter after a tremendous freshman season. Unfortunately for Mills, he got kicked off the team for breaking university rules last August which left Benson as the starter.
For the Jackets offense, it was a smooth transition. Benson would end up being the Jackets most consistent rusher. Benson ended up rushing for 1,053-yards and six touchdowns. Not too bad for a player who wasn’t expecting to make a huge impact t until just a few weeks before the season opener.
