Tyler Cooksey, who graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School, was recruited as part of the class of 2015 for Georgia Tech to play inside linebacker for Ted Roof, and later Nate Woody. He started his career at Tech as a member of the scout team in the 2015 season.
Cooksey throughout his career so far has endured several health setbacks including several surgeries. His health setbacks and surgeries meant that he did not see much playing time for the Jackets so far in his career on The Flats. With the hire of Nate Woody before the 2018 season, Cooksey still did not have an exceptional amount of playing time and took most of his snaps on special teams.
