Georgia Tech opens the 2017 season with their first appearance in a Chick-fil-A kickoff game versus old Southeastern Conference rival Tennessee, and the game would be played at night.
The Labor Day affair will be played in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium just a few blocks up the street from Bobby Dodd, and is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m., according to the ACC.
ESPN will carry the September 4 game in the first meeting between the Yellow Jackets and Volunteers since the 1987 season. The pair were once heated rivals in the SEC, before Georgia Tech left the conference after the 1963 season.
