The Yellow Jackets were lead offensively by freshman point guard Michal Devoe who contributed 14-points on the night despite going 1-for-5 from beyond the arch. The freshman also had 5 assists in his best performance of the season. Jose Alvarado came off the bench due to a “coaches decision” but still was able to score 13 points and 3 assists.
The Yellow Jackets as a team used a tremendous first half performance on both ends of the court to jump out to a 42-11 lead at halftime. At the half, UTRGV was shooting just 8.3% from the field, a testament to the Yellow Jackets strong defensive play but also a testament to how unlucky the Vaqueros were on Wednesday night.
