Amos Willingham (7-2) got the start and the win for the Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, throwing six strong innings giving up 2 runs on 6 hits with 4 strikeouts. Tommy Sheehan (5-6) would take the loss for ND, giving up 5 runs on 3 hits and six strikeouts, along with 3 walks. Sheehan racked up over 90 pitches in less than four frames of work.
The Yellow Jackets got off to a little bit of a sluggish start despite a leadoff single from Luke Waddell but stranding him on the basepaths in the first inning.
Despite the slow start, however, the Jackets explosive offense broke the game open in the fourth inning when back to back walks and a perfect bunt from Austin Wilhite would load the bases with no one out.
