Georgia Tech’s series opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish did not go to plan as the Yellow Jackets dropped the opener to the Fighting Irish by a final score of 9-6. Starting pitcher Xzavion Curry had one of his tougher starts of the season, lasting just four innings while surrendering four earned runs on five hits and two walks. He did strike out five in the process but overall struggled for the most part.
Notre Dame starter Tommy Sheehan didn’t pitch great himself, going five innings and allowing five earned runs over nine hits but did just enough to pick up his fourth win of the season.
