Georgia Tech’s Amos Willingham got the start for the Jackets but struggled in his short time on the mound against the Tigers. Willingham lasted just 1.1 innings, allowing three earned runs over the course of three hits and three walks. The Jackets would find themselves in a 3-0 after the second inning but would begin to scratch back in the third inning, picking up a lone run.
The fourth and fifth innings turned out to be big innings for the Jackets as they picked up three runs in each inning, giving them a 6-4 lead heading into the sixth inning.
