Georgia Tech associate athletic director Theresa Wenzel will be leaving her position at the end of the month, ending a 10-year term at the school. In her position, Wenzel oversaw women’s basketball, golf, softball, volleyball, swimming and diving, track and field and tennis. Athletic director Mike Bobinski said Wednesday that she resigned the position, acknowledging the unusual timing of the change.
“I appreciate everything she’s done,” Bobinski said Wednesday. “She’s done a great job on behalf of our department, particularly our student-athletes. She’s a real champion for them and their cause, and I appreciate that.”
Hired by former athletic director Dan Radakovich, she was one of the longest-serving administrators in the athletic department and added the title of senior woman administrator (highest-ranking female administrator) in 2006.
