The Panthers (15-10, 9-5 SBC) outscored the Mountaineers (12-12, 6-7 SBC) 44-18 in the paint and scored 22 points off turnovers. Madison Ervin joined Wright and Johnson in double-digits with a 14-point night and five assists.
Appalachian State led by two at the end of the first quarter but Georgia State raced to a 28-point second quarter to hold a 45-38 lead at the half.
The Mountaineers once again pulled ahead in the third quarter, but the Panthers responded by closing out the period on a 9-2 run.
