ATLANTA – Georgia State men's soccer goalkeeper Paul Tyson was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Tyson collected four saves and earned his sixth clean sheet of the year in GSU's 3-0 shutout over Appalachian State on Saturday.
The Liverpool, England, native leads the Sun Belt in goals against average (1.08) and save percentage (.769) and is second in the conference in shutouts (6). Saturday was eighth time this season Tyson had recorded four or more saves in a single match.
Tyson is one clean sheet away from tying the Georgia State record of most shutouts in a single season (7), set by Yannic Horn in 2016 and 2017.
