ATLANTA -- Georgia State got an outstanding start from Tyler Koch, but the Panthers fell 6-3 to No. 8 Georgia 6-3 Wednesday at the GSU Baseball Complex.
Behind Koch, the Panthers trailed just 2-1 after six innings, but Georgia (15-2) scored four runs in the in the seventh to pull ahead 6-1.
Georgia State (5-12) tried to rally with two runs in the ninth, but Georgia closer Aaron Schunk came on to record the final two outs for his sixth save.
Koch, the junior left-hander, was making just his second start but pitched six innings and allowed only one earned run on seven hits with a career-high seven strikeouts.
