TAMPA, Fla. -- Georgia State's softball team earned its first win of 2020 Saturday with a six-inning run-rule victory over Illinois State, defeating the Redbirds 10-2.
Freshman Sophie Mooney got the start in the circle for GSU and was lights out. Mooney struck out 12 batters and held Illinois State to two runs through six innings of work.
At the plate, Caitlin Ray did much of the damage for the Panthers. Ray drove in four runs with a perfect 3-for-3 night. She doubled home a pair of runs in what was a big, five-run fourth inning for GSU.
