ATLANTA-The Atlanta Tipoff Club announced on Friday that Georgia State sophomore D’Marcus Simonds has been named the Georgia Men’s College Co-Player of the Year following a remarkable season with the Panthers.
Simonds, who earned Sun Belt Player of the Year honors and was named the conference tournament MVP, will share the award with Georgia’s Yante Maten who was named the SEC Player of the Year.
Simonds, who also earned All-Sun Belt First Team honors led Georgia State to a second NCAA Tournament appearance in the last four years. Last week while facing No. 2-seed Cincinnati, Simonds scored the first 16 Georgia State points en route to a 24-point performance.
