ATLANTA – Georgia State true freshman Vazha Shubladze has been named Sun Belt Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.

Shubladze rounded out week three of the spring season with a perfect 2-0 record in singles play, earning his first career clinch and his first win against a ranked opponent over the weekend.

The freshman from Tbilsi, Georgia, opened the week with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over UNCW’s Michael Copeland at the No. 4 position to clinch the 4-3 win for the Panthers. He followed up that performance with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over 69th-ranked Cole Gromley of Georgia Tech on Sunday, his first career victory over a ranked opponent in singles play.
