BIRMINGHAM -- Jake Rogers and Jansen Acton combined on Georgia State's second straight shutout in a 1-0, series-clinchinig victory over Samford Saturday at Joe Lee Griffin Field.
Georgia State has won six of its last seven games to improve to 10-4 on the season. Samford fell to 7-9.
Rogers (3-1), the junior right-hander, pitched 7-1/3 innings and allowed just two hits, both singles in the second inning, and three walks. Seven of his career-high eight strikeouts came from the fifth inning on.
The Ringgold, Ga., native seemed to get stronger as the game went on.
