CONWAY, S.C.-Georgia State nearly overcame a 32-point second half deficit before falling to Coastal Carolina 95-82 on Saturday afternoon at the HTC Center. D’Marcus Simonds scored a season-high 31 points for the Panthers who saw their three-game winning streak snapped.
Georgia State (19-9, 10-5 Sun Belt) was looking to secure its 20th win for a third consecutive season. Coastal Carolina (13-13, 7-7 Sun Belt) snapped a four-game losing streak as Tyrell Gumbs-Frater scored a team-high 29 points.
Redshirt-junior Damon Wilson spurred the Panthers’ second-half comeback with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while sophomore Kane Williams added 12 and freshman Nelson Phillips scored 10.
