ATLANTA - Georgia State out-hit UTA Friday in Game 1 of this weekend's three-game series, but the Mavericks defeated the Panthers 6-3.
Georgia State recorded 10 hits compared to UTA's 8, but GSU stranded 10 runners on base.
UTA made the best out of two GSU errors with four of their six runs being unearned.
Mallory Parson got the start in the circle for GSU and went 3.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits. Emily Soles threw the next 3.0 innings also holding UTA to just one earned run. Savannah Freeman pitched the top of the seventh and didn't allow an earned run.
