Panthers Drop Game 2 in Statesboro

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia State fell 10-1 in five innings Friday as Georgia Southern won a rain-delayed Game 2 of the series in Statesboro.

After a heavy rain shower forced first pitch back half an hour, Georgia State and Georgia Southern battled in a 1-1 game through the first four innings.

Freshman Gabby Benson continued her hot streak at the plate with an RBI single in the top of the third to open the scoring, bringing Reagan Morgan home from second.

The Eagles responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the third, but Savannah Freeman came on in relief and got a big strikeout to end the inning with the bases loaded.
