ATLANTA – Sophomore Maddie Johnston scored twice on Thursday night in the first game in Georgia State's new soccer facility as the Panthers earned a 2-1 win over Stetson in a weather-shortened game.
Originally scheduled to be three 30-minute periods, the two teams played just under 29 minutes before the first weather delay of about 45 minutes.
Johnston scored in the 19th minute of the first period to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
After the weather delay, the two teams agreed to play one more 45-minute period. Stetson freshman Jillian Therrien leveled the match with a goal in the 45th minute, but Johnston gave the Panthers the lead again in the 56th minute of play.
