ATLANTA -- Joelle Johnson was scored a career-high 17 points in Saturday's 66-56 loss to Appalachian State at the GSU Sports Arena.
Johnson and Deasia Merrill scored a combined 29 points off the bench including 22 of Georgia State's first 24 points. Johnson came out on fire, going 6-for-6 from the field in the first half and 3-for-3 from long range. Johnson finished 7-for-8 shooting with a pair of steals.
Merrill, playing in just her third game for GSU after transferring from Kentucky in the offseason, totaled 12 points with five rebounds and three blocks.
