ATLANTA – Georgia State senior Giles Hussey has been named Sun Belt Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon, awarding a GSU athlete the individual accolade for the second consecutive week.
Hussey helped lead Georgia State to a 4-2 victory over ACC power Clemson in the Panthers’ home opener Sunday, earning his first win over a ranked opponent and first clinch of the season in the win.
As the Tigers cut the GSU lead to 3-2 with a win on court five, Hussey shut down any hopes of a comeback for Clemson as he knocked off 100th-ranked Simon Baudry 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 to get the clinch and secure the Panthers’ second win in their last three matches.
