ATLANTA – Georgia State men’s basketball coach Ron Hunter, who has taken the Panthers to unprecedented new heights, was enshrined in the Cradle of Coaches at Miami University on Friday night in Oxford, Ohio.
Hunter played for Miami in the early 1980’s helping the squad win two Mid-American Conference titles while making three straight NCAA Tournaments. It was in his time at the Oxford school that he got his first idea to coach.
Hunter got both his bachelors and master’s degrees from Miami and it’s where he began his coaching career – as a grad assistant on Jerry Pierson’s staff – before later becoming an assistant coach under Herb Sendek.
