TAMPA, Fla. – Georgia State's softball team opened the 2020 season at the USF-Rawlings Invitational in Tampa Friday, losing to Fresno State 5-0 and #17/#14 Michigan 6-1.
The Panthers were blanked in Game 1 against Fresno State who is receiving votes in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll.
Newcomer Sydney Stavro, a graduate transfer from Georgia Tech, recorded Georgia State's first hit of the season with a single up the middle in the third. Stavro reached base twice in the contest.
Freshman Sophie Mooney got the start in the circle for GSU and look good in the opening innings of her collegiate debut.
