ATLANTA – Behind a solid defensive performance and first-half goal from freshman Jimena Cabrero, Georgia State women’s soccer earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Texas State Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
The win was GSU’s second in a row and improved the team to 5-2-1 on its home turf this season. Georgia State (6-8-2, 3-4-1 SBC) moved into a four-way tie for sixth place in the Sun Belt standings with 10 points while Texas State (8-6-2, 4-3-1 SBC) remained in fourth place with 13 points.
Scoring chances came at a premium in the first half of Sunday’s contest, as each side produced only three shots apiece in the opening 45 minutes of play.
