Freeman Tosses Complete-Game Shutout

ATLANTA - Savannah Freeman allowed just two hits as she threw a complete-game shutout Friday to defeat Appalachian State 1-0 in Game 1 of the three-game series.

The redshirt freshman took a no-hitter into the seventh inning chasing GSU's first no-no since 2016. App State finally got in the hits column with a pair of singles in the top of the seventh. The Mountaineers loaded the bases with two outs to make things interesting before Freeman induced a popup to end the game.

Freeman totaled seven strikeouts and worked around four walks.

Georgia State's lone run came in the fifth inning when Arden Jobe launched a line-drive solo home run to left-center to break the 0-0 tie.
