ATLANTA – Despite a career-high 150 rushing yards from Destin Coates, Georgia State fell to No. 19 /21 Louisiana 34-31 in overtime on Saturday at Center Parc Stadium.
Georgia State fell to 0-1 to open the season while Louisiana improved to 2-0 after topping No. 23 Iowa State last week.
The Panthers took a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter and led 21-7 with 10:49 to play in the third quarter before Louisiana scored 21-straight points to take a 28-21 lead with 11:54 to play.
Coates responded for the Panthers with a four-yard touchdown run to tie the game with 7:37 remaining before the teams eventually headed to overtime.
