TAMPA, Fla. – Georgia State’s softball team opened up the 2018 season against No. 18 Michigan and South Florida Friday at the Wilson DeMarini Tournament in Tampa.
The Panthers were defeated 8-0 in six innings by the Wolverines and lost 5-4 to host USF in the nightcap.
In the opening game, Georgia State was unable to get anything going against the 18th-ranked Wolverines. Michigan shutout the Panthers and took an 8-0 lead into the sixth inning for the run-rule victory.
Georgia State and South Florida were locked in a tight contest in the evening game. The Panthers went in front 2-1 in the third inning with a two-run home run from senior Ivie Drake.
