ATLANTA-Opening night of the 2020-21 NCAA Basketball season might have gotten its 'Game of the Year' out of the way early as Georgia State survived a four-overtime thriller to top in-town foe Georgia Tech 123-120 on Wednesday night/Thursday morning at McCamish Pavilion.
Records flowed for both teams, but it was Georgia State (1-0) that won its regular season opener for a eighth-straight year, defeated an ACC opponent for the first time in school history, and snapped a 14-game losing streak to Georgia Tech (0-1).
For the first time in school history four Panthers finished with 20 or more points led by Justin Roberts career-high 26 points and nine rebounds.
