ATLANTA-Georgia State sophomore guard D’Marcus Simonds who led the Panthers back to the NCAA tournament this year has earned AP All-America Honorable Mention recognition as announced by the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Simonds becomes the fourth Panther in program history to earn the honor and the first since R.J. Hunter was recognized following both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
The sophomore capped a remarkable season by leading the No. 15-seed Panthers to the Big Dance for the second time in four years. Simonds scored the first 16 Georgia State points of the game against No. 2-seed Cincinnati.
