ARLINGTON, Texas -- Georgia State slowed down UT Arlington's offense but was unable to overcome the defensive pressure of the Mavericks in a 58-32 loss at the College Park Center Thursday.
Entering the game, UTA averaged nearly 70 points per game and more than five 3-pointers a game. The Panthers forced 16 turnovers and held the Mavericks to just 3-for-17 shooting from deep.
The Panthers led after the first quarter but UTA took control in the second period and didn't give up the lead from there. GSU heated up in the third quarter and cut UTA's lead to six but the Mavericks responded with a 6-0 run to end the quarter.
