ATLANTA - The Georgia State Panthers (1-0) kicked off the 2018 season in dramatic fashion, overcoming a 14-0 first quarter deficit to win a thriller, 24-20, over the Kennesaw State Owls (0-1) in front of 23,088 fans at “Pete” Petit Field at Georgia State Stadium on Thursday.
Junior transfer Dan Ellington led the way for the Panthers in his first-ever start, hitting on 20-for-28 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns, while also running for 77 yards on 18 attempts. Christian Owens had six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown and Penny Hart caught five for 46 yards and a score.
