Burmeister scored three goals in GSU’s 4-2 victory over rival Georgia Southern in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship on Sunday, leading the Panthers to their first SBC Tournament Title in program history. The Bentwisch, Germany, native entered Sunday’s contest without a goal on the 2018 season, then earned a hat trick to bump him into ninth place on the GSU all-time career goals list with 26.
Burmeister was named 2018 Sun Belt Championship Most Outstanding Player after scoring the most goals in the SBC Championship match since the league reinstated soccer in 2014. GSU’s four total goals were the third most in a SBC Tournament final in league history.
