ATLANTA -- Georgia State scored a combined 16 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Rider Saturday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.
The Panthers run-ruled the Broncos in Game 1, winning 9-0 in five innings. GSU won 7-3 in Game 2.
Freshman Daisy Hess was one of several Panthers that had big days at the plate. Hess hit her third home run of the season in Game 2 and finished the day with three hits and four RBI.
GSU also got two solid performances in the circle Saturday. Sophie Mooney got the start in the first game and threw a complete-game shutout while allowing just one hit and striking out five.
