ATLANTA-Junior men's soccer standout Alex Summerfield scored the lone goal in the Panthers win over Mercer on Saturday and has been named the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week.
His game-winning goal in the 20th minute of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over their in-state foe extended Georgia State’s winning streak to six games – a feat the program accomplished for the first time in over 30 years.
The goal was Summerfield’s second of the season, making him the fourth different Panther to score multiple goals this year. The Billingshurst, England, native also became the first GSU player to score goals in back-to-back matches since Hannes Burmeister in 2017.
