STATESBORO, Ga. – After a 45 minute lightning delay, the Georgia Southern women's soccer team began their 2018 campaign in Fort Myers, Florida. The Eagles faced off against eight-straight ASUN champions, Florida Gulf Coast, for just the second time in program history. The Blue and White were searching for revenge after falling to the Eagles last season 3-0 at home in Statesboro.
The first 15 minutes of the match began were filled with a bit of nerves and a lot of anxious play by both sides. FGCU was able to settle down first, collecting the first goal of the evening on a miscommunication in the backline.
