STATESBORO, GA. - Georgia Southern sophomore designated hitter Tyler Martin has been selected Second Team All-Sun Belt Conference by a vote of the league's head coaches. A native of Acworth, Georgia, Martin has a .282 average this season with eight home runs. In Sun Belt play, Martin leads the Eagles with a .340 average.
Martin, who earned a spot on the team through fall walk-on tryouts, slugged .492 with 20 of his 50 hits going for extra bases. The sophomore has driven in 40 runs this season, ranking second on the team. 25 of Georgia Southern's 36 wins this season have come with Martin at the DH position.
