NEW ORLEANS - Despite a valiant effort to the end, the Georgia Southern football team couldn't overcome five turnovers and fell to Sam Houston 31-26 Thursday night in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl played inside Caesars Superdome.

The Bearkats (10-3) jumped out to an early lead when a JC French interception was returned 29 yards for a touchdown just three minutes into the game. In the second quarter, Tracy Hill Jr. forced a fumble that was recovered by Ayden Jackson, sparking the Eagles' offense. French eventually found Josh Dallas on a 17-yard touchdown pass to tie things up.
