STATESBORO - Georgia Southern junior Terren Ward has been named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced Tuesday by league officials.
Ward became the first Eagle to score 40+ points in a contest since 1989 with her career-high 40 points in Saturday's 99-86 win over Arkansas State. The Jesup, Ga., native added six rebounds and a pair of assists in the victory, which was the 11th straight game in double figures to start the season for Ward. She joins GS Hall of Famer Phylette Blake (three times) and Junnie Hughley (once) as Eagles to record 40+ points in a game, and the last 40-point performance for an Eagle was Blake's 42 points vs.
