Softball Falls in Series Finale, 4-0, to Coastal Carolina

STATESBORO – Georgia Southern softball fell to Coastal Carolina, 4-0, in the series finale on Sunday at Beautiful Eagle Field.

Georgia Southern (25-25, 9-3 SBC) tallied just three hits leaving five runners on base and did not record a hit with runners in scoring position.

Coastal Carolina (29-11, 6-6 SBC) scored four unanswered runs beginning in the third inning on a bases loaded RBI single before a pair of solo home runs rounded out the scoring making it 4-0.

The Eagles looked to take an early lead in the second when Delanie Thames led off the inning with a triple to right field before Madi Gillespie drew a walk to put runners on the corners but Thames was caught on a force play at the plate to erase the threat.
